Open to beginning and intermediate level students. Learn the basic skills for working in acrylics while completing a painting

Acrylics- Photos to Paintings (5673 & 5674)
Learn how to turn your favorite photograph of people, places, or pets into a painting.
Class is open to all levels, but a beginning knowledge of painting is recommended. (Sharon Taylor Padgett). Supply list at front desk.

These classes are recommended for

projects.

The Tuesday class (Dorothy Johnson) will focus on acrylics, oils, and pencil projects.

The Friday class (Nanette Langner) will focus on watercolors, pastels, and pencils. Bring supplies of your choice.

Basket Weaving (5680)
Learn the art of basket weaving as you
complete a beautiful, functional basket with North Carolina artist Joni Dee Ross. The basket for this class is a hanging mail basket.
Bring your lunch, a towel and scissors or garden shears.

Digital Darkroom (5684)
Open to teens (ages 14 and up) and adults. This class provides an introduction to digital photo manipulation using Photoshop
Elements (Misty Morris). Bring your own
CD or power stick.

This class teaches basic techniques for

Summer Art Camp 2008

We are hard at work on summer art camp
plans! This summer campers will become
“Art Hounds”-sniffing out art in unusual and unexpected places!

Registration will begin on April 1st. Register early as we expect another year of sold out camps!

Camps will be open to chidren ages 4 and up with full and half day options available.

Aiken Youth Orchestra

MUSIC

Aiken Youth Orchestra (5209 & 5210)
Open to area youth, these orchestras provide students with a quality orchestral experience. Semester concludes with a Spring Concert on Tuesday, April 29 at the Art Center. A concert will be held at Hopeland Gardens tentatively in May.


Full Orchestra (5209)
Open to winds, horns, strings and percussion in grades 6 and up (Dr. Richard Maltz, conducting).
Mondays (weekly)
7:00 – 8:30 p.m. $75

String Orchestra (5210)
Open to string instruments in grades 4 and up (Laura Tomlin, conducting).
Tuesdays (weekly)
6:30 – 7:30 p.m. $75*

3. Age restrictions are necessary for the enjoyment and safety of students. Students must meet the minimum age requirements on or before the first day of the class.

4. Financial assistance is available to qualified children and seniors.

5. The Arts Center is not responsible for injuries that occur during classes. Please follow instructions closely.

7. The Arts Center reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment or compelling circumstances. Enrollees will be contacted only in the event of a cancellation.
