Beginning Painting (8666)
Learn the foundations for painting in watermedia (Amy Dobbs). Students will experiment with both watercolor and acrylics. Supplies included.

Clay-Handbuilding & Wheel
Learn the skills needed to create pottery by hand-building and using the wheel (Myrna Spurrier). Wear old clothes and bring an old towel. Class price includes $5 firing fee, glaze, and 25 pounds of clay.

Fused Glass Jewelry and Picture Frames (7573)
Learn to make lovely fused glass earrings, pendants and picture frames (Rosemary Collins). Closed toe shoes and protective eyewear required. Supply fee (approximately $20) due to instructor the first night of class.

Less is More: Beginning Abstract Painting (8675)
Using a limited color palette and a step by step method, students will create an original abstract painting (Dr. Michael Fowler). Class discussion will include how to use color theory, shapes, and bridges to create a unified painting. Supply list at ACA front desk. Bring a sack lunch.

Basket Weaving-Reed (8521)

Oils-Still life with Silver and Glass (8420)
Join Atlanta area artist, Amanda Carder, for a still life workshop focusing on the treatment of glass and silver pieces. Students will learn how to organize art equipment, paint with a limited palette, select good composition, identify light, dark and arrange in masses. Supply list at ACA front desk. Aiken Youth Orchestras (6285)
Open to area youth, these orchestras provide students who have at least one year of music training on their instrument with a quality orchestra experience (Dr. Laura Tomlin). Season concludes with the Winter Concert, Nov. 30, at the Arts Center. New this fall: both orchestras will include strings, winds, and percussion instruments.
Placement auditions will be held at the Arts Center on Saturday, August 28 and Tuesday, August 31. Call Cathy Rumble (803) 641-9094 to arrange for an audition time.
